Support the artMOBILE!

2011 Summer Schedule

artMOBILE is a Youth Education OUTREACH Program created and sponsored by the New Bedford Art Museum.
Operating much like a bookmobile, the 2 purple buses, each with 2 experienced educators, transport art supplies to 20 community sites each week. We do this 5 days a week for 8 weeks each summer within greater New Bedford.
artMOBILE educators say the program is a "Pied Piper" for children. The kids see the Purple Bus coming, and they come running to meet it! For many children, this is the only supervised and instructional activity they will have all summer. This 16 year old program is critical towards keeping the children off the streets and out of trouble during the times of highest crime. Between 500 to 800 children, ages 5 and up take part in this FREE summer art instruction at 20 scheduled community sites each year.
